Virtual Edge Summit 2010
On Monday and Tuesday I attended a few sessions virtually while I was looking for a new job. I was struck by the clarity of the sound and the video streaming. I live at 8400 feet in the foothills of Denver and am on WIFI. I didn’t have any issues at all.
There were a few different virtual platforms that were hosting seminars– inexpo, virtual edge, 3dexplorer.com and Virtual Beginnings. I tuned in to the Virtual Beginnings site because they seemed to have the most interesting sessions. I felt like I was sitting in the conference room in Santa Clara CA. People from the audience were asking questions using a mic so everyone could hear the questions. Very high-level questions and intelligent answers. It was one of the best real virtual events that I have ever attended. Accessing the sites was easy and being able to tweet during a seesion worked well.
Why aren’t more companies using the technology? Maybe you need someone with my experience to manage your virtual events and new technology. More on the summit later.
