System Requirements Issues with SL

One of the objectives of Monday & Tuesday is to determine if your computer and internet service provider are capable of running Second Life.

Successful participants will be able to do the following:

  • Download, install, and set-up a new Second Life Account
  • Create the “new” you, known as an avatar
  • Explore Orientation Island with new skills of being able to change your appearance, teleport to new islands, fly and walk to new locations, view objects and be able to sit down and enjoy your island experience
  • Have a hidden desire to be able to teleport to new islands, update their appearance, meet new people, and have fun learning new and sometimes challenging technology

Unsuccessful participants will experience one or more of the following:

  • Unable to download and install Second Life (slow internet service, this is a large program)
  • Unable to open Second Life or system crashes frequently (possibly due to lack of memory or video card)
  • Unable to view graphics in Second Life (possibly due to lack of memory or video card)
  • Unable to modify your appearance
  • Unable to communicate with others in Second Life
  • Unable to log-on due to firewall settings
  • Frustration with this new technology

If you experienced problems, but would still like to participate you may try using a different computer, install additional memory, or perhaps update your video card.
